First-sale property e-registrations in Maharashtra to begin from Oct

Implementation of online registration for first-sale properties in Maharashtra is expected to begin from October onwards and the software required for the process is nearing completion.

The e-registration will begin with Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA)-registered developers with more than 50 tenements, and then move on to the rest of the builders.

Using software provided by the state registration department, builders and buyers can register property documents directly from the developer's office.

All work related to the software, according to State Inspector General of Registration and Stamps Shravan Hardikar, is on schedule. He told the media that the developers are free to participate in the process and that they expect more developers to use the software.

The online registration of first-sale projects is expected to begin on October 2nd, according to Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat.

A registration department official said that all MahaRERA-registered developers are eligible to apply for the software. They will be given the software after they have completed their due diligence.

Citizens who want to register their properties at the sub-registrar office can do so using the traditional method.

Members of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (CREDAI) planned to use their offices as registration points, while a commonplace could be finalised to assist small-time builders.

The e-registration process would benefit both developers and citizens, says CREDAI vice-president Shantilal Kataria. Shrikant Joshi, an activist, told the media that there should be no technical issues, and the new process will help reduce foot traffic at sub-registrar offices. He believes the system should be transparent.
