Former UPMRCL MD receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Shri. Kumar Keshav, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), DB RRTS Operations India Pvt Ltd. (Former Managing Director, UP Metro Rail Corporation Limited), has been awarded the prestigious "Lifetime Achievement Award" by the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) for his valuable contributions in the concrete industry as well as his contribution to society by creating a world-class infrastructure in metro transport for the people of Uttar Pradesh through 2022.
He is an IRSE (Indian Railway Service of Engineers) officer and a gold-medal winning engineer from IIT-Kanpur (M.Tech.) and IIT-Roorkee. He was born on July 22, 1960, in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh (B.E.). He was appointed managing director of the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation Limited on August 18, 2014. (now UPMRCL).
Uttar Pradesh Metro has distinguished itself in the Metro project's execution under his capable leadership.
Under his leadership, the north-south corridor of the Lucknow Metro began operations in just four and a half years, while the Kanpur Metro began operations in just over two years, both of which were inaugurated and flagged off by honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The past eight years of his life in UPMRC have been completely dedicated to the implementation of metro projects in Lucknow, Kanpur, and Agra, leaving unparalleled competition even for contemporary metro projects in the country for project delivery speed.
Shri. Kumar Keshav was appointed Chief Executive Officer of DB RRTS Operations India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, Germany's national railway company, on July 15, 2022. The 82-kilometer Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System has been agreed to be operated and maintained by Deutsche Bahn (DB).
"I joined Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (then LMRC) as the managing director in August 2014, and that indeed was a big responsibility on my shoulders," Shri. Kumar Keshav said of his journey. I've only lived and worked for UPMRC since that day, I have only lived and worked for UPMRC. It wasn’t just a job responsibility for me; it was a part of me that will always stay with me. Today, I am extremely proud of what we have achieved together. After completing the Lucknow Metro project 36 days ahead of the stipulated time frame, UPMRC commenced the operations of Kanpur Metro in just two years and one month, despite two severe waves of COVID-19.
He also added, "There’s no shortcut to success." Hard work and dedication are the keys. Stay consistent, stay true to yourself, and let integrity guide you in your professional and personal endeavors. "We have miles to go before we rest."
