The Haryana government has granted approval for the construction of a railway overbridge (ROB) that will link the upcoming All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rewari with NH-11. Estimated at a cost of Rs 2.51 billion, the bridge is designed to traverse the Rewari-Narnaul railway line. In response to a query in the state assembly, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Friday that the construction of the Rewari hospital, part of the AIIMS initiative, is expected to commence shortly. A government spokesperson highlighted the significance of the proposed ROB, emphasising its role in seamlessly connecting the AIIMS site in Rewari's Majra with NH-11, also recognised as the Rewari-Narnaul Road. The ROB aims to facilitate swift and convenient access to AIIMS for patients, medical professionals, and visitors, contributing to a more accessible and patient-friendly healthcare environment. The project aligns with the state government's commitment to comprehensive urban planning and infrastructure development, promoting cohesive connectivity in the region. The proposed ROB will originate from Rewari-Narnaul road and terminate at the AIIMS campus. The project encompasses a flyover on NH-11 and a six-lane ROB spanning 15 acres of land, acquired successfully by the district administration in Majra Mustakil Bhalkhi village. While still in the planning stage, the project lacks a finalised timeframe. Officials clarified that the alignment of the ROB will be determined in the coming days as the project plan is being prepared. Chief Minister Khattar underscored the importance of robust infrastructure for healthcare sector development, expressing the government's commitment to efficient administrative processes for timely implementation. He described the AIIMS project as transformative, reflecting Haryana's vision for inclusive and sustainable development to meet the evolving needs of its citizens. The announcement of the AIIMS in Rewari dates back to 2015, announced during an election rally by CM Khattar. However, the project faced delays due to land acquisition issues, initially falling under the jurisdiction of the forest department. After identifying a new parcel of land, the Haryana government acquired 203 acres for the project and leased it to the Centre. HLL Infra Tech Services (HITES), a subsidiary of HLL Lifecare, was appointed as the executing agency by the Centre earlier this year to oversee the AIIMS project. Chief Minister Khattar confirmed that construction responsibilities lie with the Union government, and the construction phase is set to commence soon after concluding processes such as tender invitations.
