L&T emerges as lowest bidder for Baiyappanahalli-Chikkabanavara line

The Rail Infrastructure Development Company Karnataka (K-RIDE) has invited bids for constructing an elevated line of Baiyappanahalli to Chikkabanavara and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) emerged as the lowest bidder by quoting Rs 859 crore.

Amit Garg, Managing Director, K-RIDE, told the media that among the three bidders, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) came up as the lowest bidder by quoting Rs 859 crore.

He said that the contractor is expected to mobilise the resources required within a month to take up the construction work.

K-RIDE also invited bids for Mallige line, corridor 2 for its civil work. The overall length of the corridor is 25 km and has 14 stations.

The K-RIDE would float separate tenders for building the stations on the corridor.

Garg told the media that the rest of the three corridors tenders would be floated one after another. The K-RIDE has been assigned to construct a 148 km suburban rail network. The estimated project cost is Rs 15,676 crore, and the deadline for all four corridors is six years.

Established in 2000, K-RIDE is a joint venture (JV) of the Ministry of Railways and the Karnataka government.
