MMRDA seeks bids for Metro 6 equipment

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has floated tenders for procurement of rakes, communication based train control (CBTC), Telecom Systems, Platform screen doors (PSDs), Depot Machinery etc. for Metro 6 (Swami Samarth nagar to Vikhroli).

The tenders, whose estimated value is Rs 2064 crore , are floated after the earlier bids for procurement of rakes were cancelled due to due to discrepancies in the bid document.

A total of 18 rakes of six car will be used for this train operations.

There will be PSDs, installed at all platforms, act as barrier between the track and the edge of the platform. These barricades people from entering or falling in the track area.

Tenders were also issued for Cab Signalling or communication based train control system works on digital technology.

The 16 km line will run along the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link road and will connect Vikhroli to Lokhandwala after criss-crossing above the railway tracks on Central Railway and Western Railway.
