Nitish Reviews Patna Metro Progress, Urges Timely Completion

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday conducted an on-site inspection of the Patna Metro Rail Project, reviewing ongoing work at key stations including Malahi Pakadi and Bhootnath. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of timely completion, directing officials to meet the August 15, 2025 deadline.
During the visit, Urban Development and Housing Department Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh presented a detailed update on the priority corridor between Malahi Pakadi and Pataliputra Bus Terminal, spanning 6.2 km and covering five stations: Malahi Pakadi, Khemnichak, Bhootnath Road, Zero Mile, and Pataliputra Bus Terminal.
Singh briefed the Chief Minister using site maps, explaining the facilities planned at Malahi Pakadi Metro Station, including escalators, ticket counters, passenger amenities, lifts, and platform access routes. He confirmed that this stretch is being prioritised for early operation.
The Bihar government has allocated Rs 1.15 billion for this segment. CM Nitish Kumar reaffirmed the project's importance, stating, 鈥淭he Patna Metro has been designed with a modern, commuter-friendly approach. I have instructed that there should be no delays. This must be completed on time for public convenience.鈥�
He was accompanied by Urban Development and Housing Minister Jivesh Kumar, who welcomed him along with Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh. Senior officials including Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, District Magistrate Dr Tyag Rajan SM, and SSP Avkash Kumar were also present.
Envisioned as a transformative public transport initiative, the Patna Metro Rail Project aims to alleviate traffic congestion, improve urban mobility, and enhance connectivity across the capital.
