Tirupati station upgrade in full swing to meet deadline

South Central Railway (SCR) said this week that the upgradation works of Tirupati Railway Station, undertaken at a cost of around Rs 3 billion in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode, are progressing at a brisk pace and will be completed by the schedule time of February 2025.

An SCR release in Hyderabad said the upgradation of the station is being done keeping in mind the needs of rail passengers for the next 40 years.

The work has commenced on the south side of the Tirupati Railway Station, where a new station building is planned. Initially, after completing the geological survey, the works have continued to progress.

To enable construction of underground parking and other facilities, basement floor excavation is almost completed. The concreting in the foundations has been completed for the new upcoming station building. About 5,600 cu m of concrete in foundations of basement floor and retaining wall is completed.

A replica of the proposed model of Tirupati station after redevelopment is set up at the entrance of the Tirupati station for public display.

SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain said that the progress of the upgradation work is being continuously monitored at all levels. He has also instructed the Railway Officials and staff to extend full cooperation to the executing agency.
