Urja Global Limited, a publicly listed renewable energy company with over 30 years of industry experience, has secured national registration and empanelment with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and all State and Union Territory DISCOMs across India. The company will play a key role in executing the Government of India鈥檚 flagship rooftop solar initiative 鈥 the Har Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the scheme seeks to provide Indian households with free electricity through rooftop solar installations, accelerating the country鈥檚 transition to sustainable and decentralised energy solutions.
Urja Global, listed on both BSE and NSE, is a pioneer in solar energy systems, electric scooters, and energy storage solutions, including lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries. The company's inclusion in this transformative programme marks a significant milestone in India's clean energy drive.
As part of its contribution to this mission, Urja Global is rolling out its flagship Urja Kendra network across 268,000 Gram Panchayats. This integrated renewable energy retail model aims to create local employment, promote entrepreneurship, and deliver decentralised green energy access.
Each Urja Kendra will:
- Market and distribute solar systems, batteries, and electric scooters
- Offer complete installation services for on-grid and off-grid rooftop solar systems
- Establish and operate electric vehicle (EV) charging stations
This initiative aligns with the government鈥檚 broader goals of achieving energy independence, empowering rural communities, and promoting green growth.
Commenting on the development, Urja Global鈥檚 management stated, 鈥淥ur empanelment under this prestigious scheme underscores our commitment to making clean energy accessible to every Indian. Through our Urja Kendra model, we aim to drive village-level transformation鈥攂ringing energy, employment, and enterprise to rural India.鈥
Urja Global鈥檚 participation in Har Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is set to significantly contribute to India's renewable energy targets while fostering sustainable development at the grassroots level.
