Ayodhya unveils India's 1st solar-powered boat for river transportation

In an effort to transform Ayodhya into a model solar city, the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Agency (UPNEDA) is set to introduce the country's first solar power-enabled boat in the Saryu river, as announced in an official statement. The UPNEDA has outlined plans for the regular operation of this innovative boat service in Ayodhya's Saryu river.

Assembled on the banks of Saryu Ghat, the boat's components and accessories have been sourced from various regions across the country. The testing phase for the fully assembled boat is currently underway, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to inaugurate it before the Ram temple consecration ceremony on January 22. This launch will pave the way for the routine operation of similar solar-powered boats in the near future.

This groundbreaking boat operates on the principle of clean energy and features a dual-mode system, functioning entirely on 100% solar electric power. It is capable of operating using electric energy in addition to solar charging. The boat, constructed with a lightweight and durable fiberglass body, guarantees noise-free and environmentally friendly operations. With a capacity to accommodate up to 30 passengers, it will operate from the Naya ghat.

The solar-powered boat boasts a propulsion timeframe of five to six hours on a full charge. From January 17 to 18, the boat will undergo comprehensive testing procedures, including waterproofing. Upon successful completion of these tests, it is scheduled to be inaugurated before the 'pran pratishtha' ceremony.

Developed by UPNEDA, the boat is equipped with 3.3 kilowatt rooftop solar panels, featuring a total of six solar panels on its rooftop generating 550 watts of power energy.
