CIDCO Launches QR Ticketing for Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1

In a significant step towards integrated urban mobility, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has launched a QR-based paper ticketing system for Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1, which runs between Belapur and Pendhar. The new smart ticketing system went live on Tuesday and marks a major milestone in CIDCO鈥檚 adoption of common mobility solutions for public transport.

The system was formally inaugurated at Belapur Metro Station by CIDCO鈥檚 Joint Managing Director, Shantanu Goel, along with other senior officials. Describing the initiative as a key upgrade to the existing Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system, Goel said the move is designed to make commuting more efficient and user-friendly.

鈥淭his initiative is part of CIDCO鈥檚 broader vision to deliver a world-class commuting experience through smart and inclusive mobility solutions,鈥� he stated during the launch.

Developed by Aurionpro Solutions Pvt. Ltd. under the supervision of CIDCO and Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro), the QR ticketing system allows commuters to conveniently access metro services using a scannable code on a printed paper ticket.

CIDCO also announced plans to expand its digital offerings in the near future. These include a mobile ticketing application, WhatsApp-based ticketing, and integration with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), aimed at further enhancing accessibility and travel convenience.

Metro Line-1 is a vital corridor serving thousands of daily commuters in Navi Mumbai. With the introduction of the smart ticketing system, CIDCO expects to not only streamline the travel experience but also encourage greater use of metro services by making them more accessible and modernised.
